Author’s Statement: These two pieces come from my personal blackout poetry project featuring every page from Jane Austen’s Northanger Abby. I first started doing blackout poetry after seeing pieces on Instagram and Pinterest and have found that it is a fun challenge transforming classic literature into a new art form.
AJ Bartholomew (she/her/they/them): I am a writer, poet, and artist from Northern Virginia. My short horror stories have appeared in multiple anthologies and magazines such as Ink Stains Vol. 15 and Cosmic Horror Monthly Issue 20. My poetry has featured in anthologies and online zones such as Havik and Weird Little Words. I am a member of my local art club where I work on my blackout poetry. I hope to one day publish a book of horror limericks and a book of blackout poetry
