Join us in celebrating our friend and poet Maurice Ferguson.
A 1977 graduate of Roanoke College and a beloved champion of the literary arts in southwestern Virginia for over forty years, Maurice has served as the editor of Artemis Journal of the Blue Ridge and a longtime mainstay of the community poetry workshop at Hollins University.
It is a testament to Maurice’s dedicated support of poets and artists in the community that last year he was honored with a crowd-funded mural incorporating lines from his poem, “Sailing for East Indies”:
All their creativity began in fascination and error
like mistaking a meadow stone for a mockingbird.
You can read several of Maurice’s poems here.
